Hamilton Lester Reissue of the 1939 Watch for New York World's Fair Excellent

  

Hamilton introduced the Lester in 1938 as one of the Art Deco watches designed to celebrate the 1939 New York world's fair. Hamilton reintroduced the Lester again in 1945 and proved to have a strong. Hamilton reintroduced this watch in 1988 as one of their five original reissued watches. It appears to be the second of the five retro reissues since the company had this reissue made with 10 karat gold fill instead of a gold plate. This watch came from an estate.

For example, the crystal has no flaws, and the gold filled case showed no wear. I added an original leather band.

I found the band in the secondary market. The Lester has a remarkable history.

The second wave of reissued Hamilton Art Deco models became available in 1982 and again in 1988. The 1938 Lester came with either a black or white dial, raised numerals, gold applied hands with the second hand in the 6 o'clock position.

The later models had white and oyster gray dials. Hans Scholl began Hamilton's second retro watch initiative. With new suppliers needed to meet demand, he commissioned Schwab & Wuischpard to produce the cases to the original specifications. The company had to make new tools to re-create the original hands.

The first five original reintroduced Hamilton models had gold backs and ETA 580.001 (Omega & Tissot) movements. Hamilton made the Lester with gold filled cases. Brand: Hamilton Limited (Registered) Edition.
